A sad day in the Lumb House

I've decided that this blog should also be about
the things that happen in our family.

Today is not a good day as one our hens has died.....
Amy went out this morning only to come running in
to tell us that her hen 'Starling' wasn't breathing

Dad went out & he told her that she was sleeping
& that it was Mums hen 'Edith' nor hers !

Amy was so upset not convinced with Dads story

They went off to school and on our return
we checked on the girls .....

Sadly Amy was right ....one of the hens was on her last breath

Which ever one it was (they all look the same)
is now on her way to heaven.....

Tea time won't be a happy time for the girls

They will probably want to say prayers and do a ceremony

as they did when 'Mabel' the fish died....

Just felt I had to blog abou this day

I will continue tomorrow with my challenges

The Rock Choir does ROCK

Last night was amazing

I persuaded my friend Pauline to come with me

and we both had a great time.

UPLIFTING is the word !

It was the first night of the Halifax Rock Choir

&
everyone appeared to enjoy themselves.

We certainly did...

Our first song (of the four we learn this term)
was
' Oh Happy Day'

which I loved from Sister Act

We even learnt some moves which made everyone SMILE

I will definitely be back on the dot of 8.00 pm next wednesday

Tomorrow I will unvail more of my challenges ....

that is after my ballet lesson !

Second challenge ...Will I still enjoy singing as much as I used to ?

Tonight I am going to my Taster Session
of
The Rock Choir

Am I nervous ?Yes
Will I enjoy it ? I'm positive I will
Will I know anyone there ? Not sure

Just seeing the banner makes me feel happy
I truelly cannot wait until 8.00pm tonight
when it will all begin.

I sang for most of my younger years
having singing lessons from the age of 9
until I was 16 ish.
I loved entertaining the old folks homes
but equally enjoyed singing in my school choir.
I had a wonderful choir master called Mr Ernie Walker
who always trusted in me and allowed me to
sing many solos and enter competitions.

It's so easy to forget all the good times
my parents never complained about the cost of lessons or music
So now it's time to put it to use..  again !!

Am I excited .... you bet I am !

Come back & see me
 for an update

Ballet .....yes ballet ... My first challenge can I pass my Grade 2 exam ?

I have not danced ballet since I was 10 years old
but I have decided one of my biggest challenges should
be ... attempting to pass two ballet exams before I reach 50 !

Our girls have a wonderful dance teacher called Zoe ... whose
challenge it will to get me through this ..
with as little pain as possible.

I'm secretly very excited ... after trying on my ballet shoes,
pink with ribbons ..... beautiful
Zoe commented about my 'point'
I was waiting for the worst however it was noted that I had
a lovely point !
well it's a start !!

Lessons begin on thursday morning
wish me luck

The story behind the name

A few weeks ago I started to think about being 50
Everyone asked me why ?
7th March 2014 is along way off
My reason seemed to be that it was time for me !
Now I know that's what is frequently said
but I felt I had my own rational behind it.

Just over 2 years ago, 2 beautiful came into our lives
the whole process had consumed our lives
for the best part of 4 years.
I had also become chief carer for my mum
who is now 84 years young ...
strong minded with a strong faith & mentally alert
however physically fragile
which comes with it's own challenges.

SO THAT'S HOW I GOT HERE

I have already got my first few challenges mapped out
& I will be sharing them over the next few days.
